And now the first West Coast pieces...

Here are the first of my efforts on the West Coast with West Coast subject matter; Tangelos from the farmers market and a strip of Eucalyptus bark that is peeling of the trunks all over here.

About the Artist

I am a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art, and have been an award-winning graphic designer and illustrator for nearly twenty years. My Design work & illustrations have been appeared in Print and Communication Arts magazines, as well as being featured at the Norman Rockwell Museum. I returned to my first love, painting, about 10 years ago.

My favorite painters are Vermeer, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, and Rembrandt and contemporary realist painters such as Scott Fraser, Sarah Lamb and Will Wilson. I have always favored the strong light and dark contrast of realist work.

I have been drawing and painting my entire life. Early on I worked in pencil and opaque watercolor before switching to oils in college. Oil is extremely forgiving which I love, along with the sensual aspect of it on the canvas. Graphite is another favorite medium of mine. It’s the one I am still most comfortable with. I also work in Encaustic (pigmented wax) and linocut prints.
