Mango from Brazil

This took a little longer than usual thanks to the flu, but I'm actually quite happy with it.

My first piece from the drawing class I am taking with Jason Pollins (www.jasonpollins.com). Came out pretty well, despite the frustration involved in getting it right!

The 21-Day Project, The Sequel...

After much wasted time and many hours spent thinking about painting, I am finally back in the studio and trying another crack at the 21-day project. After a very inspiring day spent at the New England Aquarium, I've decided to do some paintings of Jellyfish. Their current display (show?) on Jellyfish is fascinating and they are actually quite beautiful creatures. In addition to this new project I will be reposting the pieces from the first 21-day project with sizes and prices. Enjoy!

Friday and Saturday's piece

Not a bad piece, I like the primary color scheme...

Monday's Painting... Wine bottle top...

Pretty quick piece that I'm happy with, at least for now... Nice to work fast with an object that I've painted before. Very helpful!

Chocolate Mousse piece in progress

This is the last piece I'll be doing at the New England Realist Center because sadly Dennis is moving to NYC. It's an idea I've thought about for a while- a still life "recipe." This is after the first night of opaque painting. One of the many benefits of painting every day is that you get proficient and speedy...

Oyster and Knife final ...

Here it is.

Catching up with the 21-Day Project updates

OK Let's see... A better picture of the inside of the Oyster Shell, the outside of the shell (not as successful as the inside), the bottle with flowers ( which isn't bad but it doesn't look like I painted it) and the Oyster shell and knife from the Boys' Burning weekend. I love how this is coming out and since it's 12x12 I'm counting it for 2 days...

DAYS FOUR AND FIVE

DAY FOUR I did the two chairs in the backyard at sunset. It's the largest of these 21 pieces and took quite q while to do. Because of that and some general laziness on Day Five I did the oyster shell which is very small. It turned out to be my fav of the series so far.

The 21-Day Project

In an effort to jump start my painting each day I am planning to set aside the next 3 weeks to making at least one small piece each day and posting the images.

DAY ONE-

Fairly happy with this piece, especially considering I'd been away from the easel for nearly 2 weeks and the complexity of those little urchins.

The Meat Paintings

So after playing around with the idea of making paintings based on enlarged magazine images I found a piece in GQ describing various cuts of steak. The pictures were great so I thought I'd try one. The bottom two images are the result. The piece came together really easily and came out quite well. It was very interesting to paint something that I am that familiar with (being a foodie).
